About the job

We are seeking a Technical Lead in Data Engineering to provide both technical and managerial leadership to one of our three teams within the Data Engineering Organization. Reporting directly to the Head of Data Engineering, the successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of data engineering principles, have the ability to guide and mentor a team of 5-8 members, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality products. 

Responsibilities: 

• Technical Guidance: Provide technical leadership to the data engineering team. Assist team members in overcoming complex technical challenges using your strong understanding of data engineering principles and practices. 
• Execution: Ensure the effective execution of projects. Coordinate with the team to ensure tasks are completed on time and meet the required quality standards. 
• Leadership: Conduct regular check-ins and one-on-one meetings to provide guidance, address concerns, and discuss progress. Influence team behavior, shape team culture, and motivate team members. Undertake performance evaluations, provide feedback, identify areas for improvement, and assist team members with their professional development. 
• Mentorship and Training: Mentor and train team members, provide feedback, help team members develop their skills, and foster a positive and productive team environment. 
• Quality Assurance: Implement quality control processes and ensure the team’s output meets the required standards.
• Scrum Ceremonies: Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups (at least once per week), Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective. Play a key role in planning and evaluating the team’s work. 
• Recruitment and Onboarding: Participate in the recruitment process, including screening, technical interviews, and technical assignments. Develop and implement onboarding plans for new team members.

About you

• 7+ years of work experience in data engineering. 
• Proven experience in designing complex systems that have been successfully delivered by teams of senior and junior developers. 
• Ability to manage work on the product and introduce the overall technical vision for a solution. 
• Strong leadership skills, including the ability to inspire, motivate, lead, and strategize. 
• Proficiency with Databricks, PySpark, Python, Azure, Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, Azure functions, Power BI, Azure Analysis Services, Git, and Azure DevOps. 
• Understanding and experience in Event-Driven Architecture and Data Streaming.

The Data function is where data is turned into information in Falck. We are four different teams working with: Data & Analytics, Strategic Automation and Master Data. In the entire function we are 60+ data specialists working in Copenhagen and Warsaw.
